| 12日～14日 | 佐原の大祭夏祭り 関東三大山車祭りの一つである「佐原の大祭」は、約300年の伝統がある夏・秋の祭り。国の重要無形民俗文化財に指定されているほか、ユネスコ無形文化遺産にも登録されています。毎年7月開催の夏祭りは、八坂神社の祇園祭。日本三大囃子の一つ「佐原囃子」の調べに乗り、総勢10台の山車がダイナミックに曳き廻されます。伝統的建造物の軒先をかすめるパワフルな山車の曳き廻しは、まるで江戸時代の祭りにいるようでワクワクが止まりません。 佐原は江戸情緒をそのまま残す商家の町。重厚な関東彫りが施された山車には日本最大級の人形が飾られ、その造形にも圧倒されます。江戸・明治期の人形師が制作した大人形は、ぜひ見ておきたい貴重な文化財でもあります。 期間中には「のの字廻し」など、曳き廻しの技を競う「曲曳き（きょくびき）」が披露される日も。その華やかな曲曳きは、若衆の技とエネルギーが最高潮に高まる祭りのハイライトとなるでしょう！ |

| 12th to 14th | Sawara Grand Summer Festival The Sawara Grand Festival, one of the three major float festivals in the Kanto region, is a summer/autumn festival with a tradition of about 300 years. In addition to being designated as a nationally important intangible folk cultural event, it is also registered as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. The summer festival held every July is the Gion Festival at Yasaka Shrine. A total of 10 floats are pulled around dynamically to the tune of Sawara Hayashi, one of Japan's three major musical accompaniments. The sight of powerful floats passing the eaves of traditional buildings is as exciting as being at an Edo period festival. Sawara is a merchant town that retains the Edo period atmosphere. The festival floats are decorated with heavy Kanto carvings and are decorated with Japan's largest dolls, and their shapes are astounding. The large dolls created by puppeteers during the Edo and Meiji periods are valuable cultural assets that you should definitely see. During the event, there will also be days when "Kyokubiki'", a competition for Hiki-mawashi techniques such as "Nono Ji-mawashi", will be performed. The gorgeous music will be the highlight of the festival, where the skills and energy of the young people reach their peak! |
